Urd, Skuld och Verdandi -nornornas port

The sculpture Urd, Skuld and Verdandi -gate of the norns is a tribute to women's football in Sweden. It is placed outside Gamla Ullevi, Gothenburg. Urd, Skuld and Verdandi are the names of three goddesses of fate, so-called norns, which in Norse mythology stands for fate/past, future and present. The sculpture creates a gate to move through, intended to highlight the collective power of women's football and to connect football generations. Tall figures, fotball-players, stretch their arms towards A golden shimmering ball, a tribute to the feats of Sweden women's national football team. The ball is guarded by three smaller figures that seem to be fighting winds from different directions. To break new ground, as women's football has done, is associated with resistance. Young players from Gunnilse IS F14/15 and Jitex BK F2013 created tracks in the base of the sculpture. The artwork is made in collaboration with Linnéa Jonsson.
The project is funded by Charles Felix Lindbergs donationsfond.
